Desert Dingo Racing

Scott reports in

The team is starting to coalesce in San Felipe for Saturday’s race. This update from Scott:

Notes on today’s trip.

Trip from San Diego this morning went 8 AM Starbucks, Highway 8 East to 98 to Calexico, through about 5 or more stoplights in Calexico then right on hwy 111 Imperial highway. About 6 blocks from there to Duty Free for cheap supplies. 12:00 at Laguna Azul for shrimp cocktails, 2 PM or a bit later at Jeff’s.

After military checkpoint at highway 3/5 junction you can see the race course off the right shoulder, paralleling for miles & miles.

Entrance to Pete’s Camp has changed due to road construction so don’t be surprised. It’s different but still intuitive. Look for the giant antennae about KM 178. Southbound road was routed onto half of northbound lane with no cones, somewhat scary.

End report.

Richard and Cary also checked in, saying they took 1101 on a shakedown cruise in the Pismo Dunes. Seth made it down in one piece, too, and had planned to spend the afternoon doing some pre-running and scoping out locations for pit stops.

Shawn, Charlie and I are green with envy.
