Desert Dingo Racing

Starting 2012 with a fresh coat of paint

Once we transition into off season mode, 1107 gets parted out. Bob and Romy  take the engine and transmission. I pull most of the electronics. Crusty took the steering box. The seats end up on my front porch and a bunch of stuff ends up in the storage shed. Also the car ends the season looking pretty thrashed, inside and out.

1107 under wraps.

First thing for me is to reclaim the car from the squirrels. The pan is dented and torn, rusted and has enough dirt and detritus in it to pass as a terrarium.

Ick.

Pretty soon we’ll do a team meeting to map out what happens between now and our first race in April. It will include a full engine rebuild. A second race transmission and probably a full second race engine. And tires, and rims and a second front beam.

I got the insides washed down, vacuumed and wiped down (mostly) and got two coats of paint on the worst of it. Still have to pull the air hoses, pumper and comm cables so I can paint the roll cage. Made good progress today. Here’s some photos.
