Chase vehicle reached 1146 about midnight. They spent some time finagling the car so it could be towed, then caught some zzzz’s. They’re on their way down the mountain now. Those waiting for satellite phone call: will be a few hours before everyone converges in Baja. dLife just finished interviewing Richard and Skid on the rooftop of a “hotel” where they spent the night.

They send their love. They’re already talking about what they’ve learned and plan to do differently next year.

Another update this afternoon.

“Sorry to hear that 1146 is out. It has been great visiting your site and following your updates both leading up to, and during the race. You have all worked very hard and should be very proud of what you accomplished.

“In a way, it is good that the engine quit before my brother got behind the wheel. Having driven with him in the ‘Rumble at Ridgecrest,’ I can assure you he has a flare for getting the car stuck and relying on the co-driver to get it unstuck!

Shawn is in good spirits. He wants you to know he is ok. waiting for chase vehicle. He’ll call home when he meets up with the satellite phone.

Jim just called. On the third leg of the race, at 4000 feet, in the section SCORE said would weed out a lot of entries, the oil light came on and the car is finished. They are waiting for the chase vehicle to catch up to see what’s involved in towing our valiant chariot. I’ll call the satellite phone in the morning and post an update.
