  • World Diabetes Congress – we’ll be there

Richard will be our booth babe.

The International Diabetes Federation sent us their artist’s concept of our booth space for the World Diabetes Congress in Montreal Oct. 16-22. Except that the car will be white, it’s all good. Lots of paperwork to fill out. And we’ll lose a few of the stantions during business hours.

Here’s what it looks like when you’re leaving the conference…

  • The first glow in the dark team

Paul with TrailGlow made this pit sign for us. I’m pretty sure it will be visible from other planets.

I first saw Paul’s work at the KC Hilite’s Midnight Special race when some race truck tore past us at Road Crossing 11 (RX11) and all its numbers were lit up like neon. I turned to Roxanne, pointed, and said “As God is my witness, I’ll own a set of those.”

It’s been a few weeks and Paul was kind enough to come on as a sponsor of the team and has treated us like royalty. Not only is he providing us with lit number panels for the SNORE races and the Baja 1000, but he’s sending illuminated pit vests, an illuminated pit sigh (above), a set of illuminated sponsor and contingency logos and the pièce de résistance:

Oh yes, a set of HID lights with the Desert Dingo Racing logo laser-etched in the glass. Batman, eat your heart out.

  • Desert Dingo Racing, now in HD

An extremely early birthday present from Roxanne came in the mail today. A custom Flip HD camera with a photo of 1107 printed on the front. We’ve been using a standard Flip for several years with decent results. We’ll test it at the SNORE 250 in early October and at the World Diabetes Congress later in the month. And, naturally, at the Baja 1000.

    Thank you Roxanne 🙂

  • Bondo heals all wounds

I am of the opinion that bondo is right up there with gravity, magnetism, subatomic attraction and duct tape when it comes to sticking to stuff.

Shawn came by today and worked his magic on 1107’s dents, including the rather large gouge I’m pretty sure I made trying to kick the jack off the car during my ill-fated seat time at the Mint 400. While he worked on smoothing out the body in advance of painting, I pulled fenders off 1117. The goal will be to paint them at the same time.

Richard came by. We called a quick meeting, mostly as an excuse to play Baja: Edge of Control on the xBox. They were both good, but no match for my mad skillz.

Big announcement tomorrow. Photos from today’s work here.
