  • Donaldson lends us a hand

Donaldson Company, Inc., is a leading worldwide provider of filtration systems and replacement parts. The company is providing us with an industrial air cleaner and filter for the race engine.

  • Tire support

Kevin at Skip’s Tires in Scotts Valley has offered to help us with the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA 235/75/15’s, which are about the largest tires you can wedge onto a Class 11 VW.

  • The UPS Guy

deliveryThe UPS guy delivered three boxes in three days. Each box was from Camelbak.

“What did you guys do, buy shares in the company?” he asked as he lugged the biggest box up the porch steps on Friday.

I pointed to the Vdub in the driveway and said, “Camebak is a sponsor for our race team. See that car? We’re racing it in the Baja 1000 this November.”

“You’re racing the Baja? You’re nuts!”

  • Camelbak onboard as a sponsor

Camelbak’s VP of Marketing and Product Management, Mac Tillman, has graciously offered us hydration systems, extra tubing and equipment and sugar free Elixer for the race car and chase vehicles.

I’ve always been a big fan of Camelbak (I own five) and contacted them just to see whether they’d developed any special systems for race cars. Mac said they had done something years back for F1’s, but had moved on to other product areas.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to Mac, Rhett and the rest of the Camelbak team for helping us out. It’s greatly appreciated.

  • Saying thanks to the folks at ToolUp

I wanted to take a moment to thank ToolUp for providing us with a Ridgid Model 42-A Heavy-Duty 4-Wheel Pipe Cutter. We needed this to cut the front ends to install the torsion bar adjusters. It made the work go much quicker. Thanks very much for your support.
