I’m still working on figuring out how to photograph our second place season trophy, because it’s crystal clear and pretty much invisible every time I’ve photographed it.
Until I sort that out, here’s a video put together by Charlene Bower of Bower Motorsports Media for the VORRA awards ceremony a week ago in Lake Tahoe. Congrats to Two Larrys Racing for taking the win and to Bob Messer for taking the inaugural Bug Invasion trophy.
If it ever stops raining, we’ll pull the rest of the equipment out of 1107 this weekend. I’ll be issuing a press release on Monday on a new sponsor. But that’s Monday. Sunday is NBC’s coverage of the Baja 1000. The teaser is below.
Two years ago the only ones live-tweeting the Baja 1000 were Robby Gordon and us. Now everyone’s doing it. Since we’re taking this year off, I’ll be stuck in front of multiple computers tracking everything online. If you know anything I’ve missed, email me at jim@desertdingo.com. Also added ATV_Rider_Mag to the Twitter list
Weatherman live – Live now Race-Dezert streams the Weatherman live. I’ll post the link when they take it live. Don’t forget to play the Weatherman drinking game – take a shot every time he calls someone a “Richard Cranium.”
Twitter
Loads of people are live tweeting the race. I’ve collected everyone I know of on this public list. Should be interesting to see what happens when they get into the desert without cell service. People are already reporting on how pre-running is going.
Here’s what they look like in newspaper format. And here’s who’s on the list:
November 11, 2010, Felton, Calif. – Desert Dingo Racing announced today that GoPro, maker of the world’s bestselling and highest performance wearable HD video cameras, is renewing its support for the team in 2011.
Desert Dingo Racing competes in off road desert racing in California and Nevada and is the official World Diabetes Day race car in the Baja 1000. The team raises money to support diabetes awareness and education programs sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation.
A lot of people have been asking me “Jim, how was last weekend’s racing?” and I told both of them “Stop IMing me long enough and I’ll get a video edited.” And here it is.
This week we start tear down of 1107. Engine out. Shocks out. We start making dashed lines where we’re going to cut the body away.
What is this? Our third engine rebuild of the season? Yes. Crusty power washed 1107 today. Richard is returning from New Orleans to get the new tires from Dixon & Son. I pushed some paper.
It’s going to rain this weekend. I can feel it in my previously broken bones from the Baja 1000 (leg) and Hawthorne 225 (rib).
