Live tracking the 2010 Baja 1000 online

Update Two: IRC standard tracking is taking a dirt nap. Try their eviewer to follow cars on the course.

Update One: Weatherman is live courtesy of Race Dezert. Live video from the start line (via Aura360). Live video from the Red Bull jump in the Ensenada wash (courtesy kadujr65.)

Two years ago the only ones live-tweeting the Baja 1000 were Robby Gordon and us. Now everyone’s doing it. Since we’re taking this year off, I’ll be stuck in front of multiple computers tracking everything online. If you know anything I’ve missed, email me at jim@desertdingo.com. Weatherman liveLive now
Race-Dezert streams the Weatherman live. I’ll post the link when they take it live. Don’t forget to play the Weatherman drinking game – take a shot every time he calls someone a “Richard Cranium.”

IRC live vehicle tracking – Live now – North Peninsula / South Peninsula
International Racing Consultants handles live tracking of all race vehicles, though not motorcycles). Looks like they’ve got an improved interface over previous years.

Twitter
Loads of people are live tweeting the race. I’ve collected everyone I know of on this public list. Should be interesting to see what happens when they get into the desert without cell service. People are already reporting on how pre-running is going.

Here’s what they look like in newspaper format. And here’s who’s on the list:

I am so sad to not be cheering on the Dingo’s this year.. always watching the little bug on the tracker (we yell “Gink! Gink!” and take a shot when the speed exceeds 35mph).

On the other hand, you get to experience what your fans go through each year.. no sleep, hitting refresh in a never ending chain of browsers, convincing the wife that the weatherman feed has to be that loud at 3am, balancing alcohol and caffeine and work.

In sidelining on the net this year, if there is anything you find “this would be useful if we were racing”, make a note.. I’d be glad to be a web based monitor minion and feed relevant info to an appropriate source. Maybe just a page with any relevant info to Dingos during the race. Baja 2.0

Love you guys, love the 11’s still in this one. All the best!
