This video includes some gratuitous engine revving.
Not much new to report. Going through the new paperwork received from SCORE for the Baja 1000. Looks like we’ll be meeting Tuesday at Richard’s to erect the beams for what will eventually be the official Desert Dingo Racing race shop (and Richard’s metal shop).
This video is of 1107 driving out of Palais des congres du Montreal, down the street, around the corner and into the loading dock.
And we’re back from the World Diabetes Congress. Highlights from the show: Richard is a schmooze machine. We watched “Dust to Glory” 19 times over the course of five days staffing the Desert Dingo booth. People love 1107. A subset of those people really love being strapped into the five point harnesses “(Oh yeah, but imagine being strapped in for four hours in a non-stop car crash.”)
1107 will be back back on a truck today (hopefully by now) and back in Felton in 10 days. Now we shift to Baja 1000 planning. TrailGlow is shipping new night driving lights and safety vests. EMS Sky Connect is shipping our secret weapon. Bilstein is re-tuning our shocks.
October 19, 2009, Santa Cruz, Calif. – MyLLC.com®, the nation’s leading document filing service, catering to individuals, small businesses and the legal and financial industries, announced today that it is sponsoring Desert Dingo Racing’s 2009-2010 off road racing season, including the Baja 1000 in Mexico in November.
“Few sports illustrate the importance of liability protection better than off-road racing. For teams big and small, it can’t be overstated how important it is ensure that drivers, co-drivers, owners, investors, and their families are protected in the event of a mishap”, said MyLLC.com® Vice-President Greg Monterrosa. “Operating as a properly formed and maintained Limited-Liability Company provides a liability “shield” for the entire team, as well as offering substantive tax benefits that could not be realized without the use of a business entity such as an LLC or Corporation.”
How come Eric always get to be 1101? I’m sure it has nothing to do with him having 41 Baja wins, including 9 Baja 1000 first place finishes.
Five registered so far the the Baja 1000. Eric (naturally). Michael Brown is the team from Alaska. Dolores Casarez is a new name. I’m pretty sure Gustavo raced last year. And us.
SCORE has announced that the 2010 Baja 1000 will be a straight shot from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas. That’s more expensive since the teams use a lot more fuel for all the chase and support vehicles, which next year will have to drive all the way back up the Baja Peninsula.
Ok, once we win the 1000, this video convinced me to race Dakar:
Paul with TrailGlow made this pit sign for us. I’m pretty sure it will be visible from other planets.
I first saw Paul’s work at the KC Hilite’s Midnight Special race when some race truck tore past us at Road Crossing 11 (RX11) and all its numbers were lit up like neon. I turned to Roxanne, pointed, and said “As God is my witness, I’ll own a set of those.”
It’s been a few weeks and Paul was kind enough to come on as a sponsor of the team and has treated us like royalty. Not only is he providing us with lit number panels for the SNORE races and the Baja 1000, but he’s sending illuminated pit vests, an illuminated pit sigh (above), a set of illuminated sponsor and contingency logos and the pièce de résistance:
Oh yes, a set of HID lights with the Desert Dingo Racing logo laser-etched in the glass. Batman, eat your heart out.
