General Tire Supporting Desert Dingo Racing for 2011 Season

August 8, 2011, Felton, Calif. – Desert Dingo Racing announced today that General  Tire, an industry-leading provider of ultra-high performance, passenger, light truck, off-road and commercial tires, is supporting the team's 2011 race season.

"General Tire’s Grabber HTS series tires deliver the aggressive grip and overall durability we need in our off road racing program,” said Desert Dingo Racing co-founder Jim Graham. “GT has a long tradition of supporting off road racing and we’re looking forward to adding a few more wins to their record books.”

The Grabber™ HTS is one of General Tire’s newest premium all-season tire for today’s light trucks, crossovers and SUVs. Born from Baja, the Grabber™ HTS is built on the technology that went into engineering the company’s Grabber off-road competition tires.

Desert Dingo Racing has teamed with the International Diabetes Federation, and is the official World Diabetes Day race car for the Baja 1000. Two team members have Type 2 diabetes and several other team members have a history of the disease in their families. They make the car available for public events and distribute hero cards with the warning signs of diabetes printed on the back.

“Desert racing has its roots in people taking old VWs offroad and Desert Dingo Racing does a lot to inspire new people to take up the sport,” said Tony Talbert, Tuning Key Account Manager for Continental Tire North America, Inc. “Using their race program to raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes got our attention and we’re proud to support them.

The team completed the 2010 season ranked second in class in the Valley Off Road Racing Association series and competed in the Baja 1000 in 2007, 2008 and 2009. For 2011 the team is in first place in class points headed into VORRA’s 24 hour off road endurance race Labor Day weekend in Fallon, Nevada.
