Desert Dingo Racing, 12seconds.tv sponsor PSA campaign in support of World Diabetes Day
Felton, California, October 12, 2009 – Desert Dingo Racing, in cooperation with the International Diabetes Federation’s (IDF) World Diabetes Day and 12seconds.tv, is sponsoring public service announcement campaign and inviting people whose lives have been touched by diabetes to record their personal messages on 12seconds.tv. The IDF estimates that more than 250 million people around the world have diabetes today. Each year an estimated seven million people are diagnosed with the disease and the global total is expected to increase to 380 million by 2029. Desert Dingo Racing, based in Felton, campaigns the official World Diabetes Day race car in the Baja 1000. People interested in participating in the PSA Campaign can sign up for a 12seconds account and post their message on the World Diabetes Day page at http://12seconds.tv/rooms/WorldDiabetesDay. Submissions close at midnight (GMT-08:00) on World Diabetes Day, November 14. More information is available on the Desert Dingo Racing website at http://desertdingo.com/WDD. “We’re sponsoring this PSA campaign to give people an opportunity to express what it’s like living with diabetes and educate everyone on the seriousness of this disease,” said Desert Dingo Racing team member Roxanne Graham. “Two members of our team have diabetes. We each have family members who are managing the disease or have died due to complications. This is a cause close to our heart.” Desert Dingo Racing will select 52 submissions to post on their website for a year-long campaign of education and encouragement. A new video will be featured each week to promote a different perspective on diabetes. "We're extremely excited to be able to use our platform to help promote such a great cause. While we can't get rid of diabetes, we are happy to be able to raise awareness 12seconds at a time,” said Nick Sobrak-Seaton, 12seconds.tv.
